WTW urges insurers not to drop high-emitting firms as study finds flaws in emissions data approach

The use of emissions-based metrics as a proxy indicator for calculating climate transition risk is a flawed approach with systemic reporting biases, according to a study by WTW and the Institute of International Finance, which found little empirical correlation between a firm’s emissions intensity and its overall transition risk.
